Everything in the shop is made to order and hand made from scratch by me. If I happen to have what you want , I will ship it quickly, but otherwise it will likely take several weeks as I usually have a substantial waitlist.
There are a great many steps in making our medallions. First, the design is drawn and perfected and transferred to a digital image so that it can be printed on special paper. Next, the metal is cut out from a large sheet. All of the rough edges are filed off and the piece is sanded and rough polished. The design is laminated on and all of the non decorated surfaces are masked off. It goes into an acid bath to etch and then into a neutralizing solution. It is cleaned up and then sanded and polished to a high shine. It is hammered and formed and any holes needed for hanging are drilled into the piece. Finally, enamel is painstakingly laid in, one color at a time, and fired on. The enameling process alone can take days. At last, jump rings are added and the medallion is hung and boxed up to go to a new home!
