The Book of the Tournament was written to explore the medieval tournament forms practiced by the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), and how the tournament and chivalry produced the reinforcing effect of "renown."

This is a book of essays; it covers all aspects of tournament fighting, and has long been a favorite for knights and squires, not only within the SCA, but in any HEMA, WMA, tournament society, ACL or other medieval martial arts group.

Chapters include: Tournament forms, the renown mechanism, the squire, knighthood, blow calibration, the chivalric (knightly) virtues, and more. It's a book about conduct and how to be successful on the field.

Hardcover with an embossed decorative cover, linen pages, small-press printed.

At checkout, choose First Edition or Second; the second has chapters on HEMA and some new tournament formats, while the first has a finer cover and art paper, better for evoking the medieval feel.
