I had a ball naturally dyeing this gradient of skeins of sock yarn! I grew the Coreopsis Tinctoria here in my garden in Phoenix, AZ, and then experimented with different mordants and modifiers to get a range of colors. Since they are all from the same plant, I ended up with a set of 5 colors that fit well together, which could be made up into a gorgeous ombre piece of work. Each skein is fingering weight, 463 yards / 100g, of 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon. I use this yarn in my antique sock knitting machine, and one skein makes me a set of socks that feels lovely against the skin.
I'd love to see this set go to a special project, and someone who can do it justice.
