Here's a lovely green and blue ruana wrap for you, inspired by hiking
the mountains and coming across a rippling stream. I hand dyed the
cotton
yarn to mimic the feel of the rushing water, and then hand wove it on my
floor loom with a
tencel weft for extra drape. Each ruana I made on this project had a
different weft color, to slightly shift the tone of the fabric and make
each one unique. This is the weaving with the light green weft.
The garment is formed of 2 rectangular panels, sewn
up the back. I have a few ruanas that I wove for myself years ago, and I wear
them often for a nice wrap for chilly weather. Ruanas are particularly
nice when traveling, since they can double as an extra layer in an
airplane, or tossed over a bed or sleeping bag.
Machine washable.
