This one of a kind sleeveless wool vest is appliqued front and back with peacocks in rust colored suede cloth that is ornamented with square studs and braid. The tunic is navy herringbone weave wool, with three tatted lace gussets in the back and a single pocket in front. It is lined from shoulder to waist in a diamond patterned satin. All the textiles in this piece are reclaimed from previously used sources.
The garment was constructed on a WWII era Singer, the applique and embroidery is hand done and took 300-350 hours. The design is based on the Peacock Doors of the Palmer House in Chicago, designed by Louis Tiffany circa 1927. Learn more about the making of this garment here.
