I made this large, wheel-thrown baluster style mug with the inspiration of mugs of the 13th Century and up through the Renaissance. But it would be also as useful and attractive in a modern kitchen or office space as it would at a Medieval event.
The thumbed base makes it more balanced and less easy to tip as well as adding an attractive, Medieval aspect. The design is carved herringbone, which is a Medieval design.
Made with high-fire stoneware and non-lead glaze, it is also sturdy, stable, and safe for liquids of your choice. The handle is large, comfortable to grasp, and well-attached. It holds 15 oz. of your favorite Beverage.
My reference for this work was "Surry Whiteware" by Pearce and Vince.
